Diagnostic Evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Pediatric Psychology Associates, LLC & Autism Behavioral Network (ABN) provides diagnostic evaluations for children suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD or autism) as well as other mental health concerns.  Our psychologist or other licensed professionals will work with you and your child to determine what type of treatment will best address his or her needs.  A diagnostic evaluation for autism includes a comprehensive interview and the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation - 2 (ADOS-2) to determine if the child meets criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Comprehensive ABA Therapy
Outpatient Counseling

ABN is also proud to offer outpatient psychological services at our clinic.  Our licensed providers focus on providing diagnosis and outpatient treatment services for children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavior challenges, and other disorders. Our staff also specializes in working with autistic children and adults.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children struggling to control their behavior.  Sessions are conducted using a parent-coaching method with a trained, licensed therapist.  The therapist will observe the caregiver interact with the child and provide live feedback on ways to modify the interaction to facilitate learning and to help the children feel calm and secure in their relationships.

PCIT is intended for children aged 2-7 years who display:

  • Parent - child relational problems

  • Refusal and defiance of adult requests

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Low frustration tolerance

  • Easy loss of temper

  • Touchy or easily annoyed by others

  • Deliberately annoying others

  • Blaming others for their mistakes

  • Destruction of property

  • Difficulty staying seated, playing quietly, and/or taking turns

PCIT is a short-term therapy and is generally completed within 12-20 sessions.

ABN appreciates neurodiversity and strives for individuality.  We also recognize that a diagnosis of autism often means that the child needs extra support and individual teaching to learn vital life skills.  We use the general philosophy of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) teaching, with a high emphasis on a developmentally-friendly and psychologically-mindful approach.  We encourage each child's unique interests and abilities and incorporate their high-interests into their learning program.  We establish a trusted and connected relationship with each child we work with, to ensure that the child experiences joy while advancing their skill-set.

ABN specializes in using ABA to teach children diagnosed with autism.  We form meaningful relationships with each child to learn their likes, dislikes, and current skillset.    We then work individually with each child  to teach new skills in communication, self-help, and other important life-long skills.  Our teaching approach involves using play and having fun in both structured learning and free play, in 1:1 rooms and in a group environment.

Our Comprehensive ABA program, is individually created for each child based on their unique needs.  We provide a team of clinicians to work specifically with your child.  We will work with you and your family to help teach your child new skills.  ABN's ABA team works with children prior to entering the school environment and can continue working with clients in After-School Focused Treatment (2-6 hours per week) once the child enrolls in school.  All ABA therapy is supervised by a licensed provider.

We are proud to offer comprehensive ABA service in the ABN clinic.
